In the heart of Daunia, on the north side of Capitanata, nestled between the Subappennino Dauno and Gargano, lies San Severo, a city steeped in ancient wine tradition.Legend has it that Diomedes, the Greek hero, founded several cities upon his arrival in Italy in the land of the Dauni, one of which was Castrum Drionis, now known as San Severo. The name was bestowed by Diomedes in honor of Drionia, his wife and the daughter of King Dauno.Cantine Re Dauno is situated in the historic center of San Severo, housed within a venerable building dating back to 1927. Within the evocative cellars, featuring cross vaults constructed from clay bricks, a consistent temperature ranging between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius is maintained-ideal conditions for the maturation of our sparkling wines.
